I’m not here

Hi! As you can see, I haven’t posted anything here on Medium in about a year. And there’s a good reason for that: I FUCKING HATE WRITING! I hate trying to find the right words to describe what I’m thinking and feeling. I hate trying to come up with something new to say all the time. I hate having anxiety attacks over whether the TERFs and anti-woke assholes will weaponize my words against me to the point of suicide. I hate spending hours losing my mind over getting a piece finished, only to get a few claps here and there for it. I hate writing. I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate writing!

Horror in This House: On Nobuhiko Obayashi’s 1977 Cult Classic

Originally published at https://www.splicetoday.com. [Contains spoilers] House is a film that burrows itself into the viewer’s subconscious mind and alters their perception of reality. Siddhartha by the River: On Rivers, Losing Faith, and Enlightenment

Originally published at https://www.splicetoday.com under the title “The God Delusion.” The original last paragraph has been restored for this version. Spider Room

Originally published at https://www.splicetoday.com. A spider hung on the ceiling above my kitchen sink. It was probably there for days, but I only noticed it last Thursday. A similar spider used to hang in the upper corner of my bathroom. It might’ve been the same spider. They certainly look alike…

Finding Faith in Secular Grace

Originally published at https://www.splicetoday.com. I still love Rich Mullins. The late Christian singer/songwriter may be best known for the dreadful “Awesome God” (which even Mullins admitted wasn’t one of his best songs), but the rest of his catalogue is much better. His music mixed elements of classical (“Sing Your Praise…

Living Mask Free: Baring My Face and Transness to the World

Originally published at https://www.splicetoday.com. Maryland recently announced that fully vaccinated people don’t have to wear masks inside of businesses anymore based on the CDC’s updated guidelines. Some places still require masks, like Rise Up Coffee Roasters here in Easton, but most don’t. I’ll still wear one for now because it’s…
